Australia Post 100 Year Celebrations for May Gibbs

Hey Everyone
Im super excited to bring you this post! Australia Post is celebrating 100 years of May Gibbs who brought you the so so cute Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and The Magic Pudding. When i was a a little kid i used to read the May Gibbs books Snugglepot and Cuddlepie adventures and just admire the gorgeous art work May Gibbs brought to the pages.


The Magic Pudding was another book that i loved to read following the crazy adventures of Bunyip Bluegum, Bill Barnicle and Sam Sawnoff.

The Designs of these stamps and cards are beautiful by Mary Callahan bring the essence of May Gibs to life!

Australia Post is marking the 100-year anniversary of May Gibbs’ Tales of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie as part of a special Children’s Bush Classics stamp issue designed by Mary Callahan.  

With a focus on the original publication of 1918, featuring first-edition typography and original illustrations, the muted colours provide a historical feel, and the tones of the Australian bush are evidenced in the stamp typography. 

The other commemorative stamp in the issue features The Magic Pudding by Norman Lindsay, also first published in 1918.

The product range accompanying the two commemorative stamps includes a minisheet, first day cover, maxicard set and stamp pack, as well as a Snugglepot and Cuddlepie licensed stamp pack and postal numismatic cover.

The Children’s Bush Classics stamp issue is available now, online at shop.auspost.com.au, at participating Post Offices and via mail order on 1800 331 794, while stocks last.
